In our final selection of clips from US news show 60 Minutes, Lesley Stahl takes a look at a couple of the more unusual electric cars under development in the US today.

First up is the Fisker Karma, a hybrid car with extra eco-friendliness: a solar panel on the roof. Like the new Toyota Prius and the Lotus Eco Elise we saw recently, the panel is designed to power systems such as the air conditioning and the CD player rather than the engine itself.

Finally, the Aptera gets a runout. Its odd shape is an attempt to make the car more aerodynamic, decreasing the energy consumption and extending its range. -Jason Jenkins

60 minutes is produced by CNET UK's parent company CBS.
