CNET.co.uk Downloads: Mapping your way to pool

Gadgets

The best things in life are free. Okay, that's not always true. Air is free, and that's pretty good. And all the software in CNET.co.uk's Downloads channels is free, or free to try, and we think that's pretty good too.

Crave has got lost countless times -- our pockets are so full of gadgets that we can't fit in a London A-Z. Luckily we've found a new app for our mobile phone that comes in handy when we get horribly lost. Tube London Pro 3.24 includes the London Underground map and two full colour A to Z street maps of the city. If that isn't enough, it also manages to squeeze in a reference map of London's overground rail system. It's available as a free to try app for Windows, Pocket PC, Windows Smartphone, Symbian UIQ, Symbian Series 60 and Palm OS.

It's said that being good at pool is the sign of a wasted youth, but Crave disagrees. You can often catch us shooting some balls, but not in smoky pool halls -- we'd much rather be sitting on our sofa with a cup of tea, playing for free. We've discovered the joys of 3D Online Pool, which supports 3-Ball, 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 15-Ball, straight, rotation, black jack and other games. As well as playing pool, you can chat online with your opponents, watch other games and earn 'pool coins', which you can use to buy virtual goods or real games.

If P2P is more your thing, BitComet is a fast, powerful and easy-to-use BitTorrent client. It supports simultaneous downloads, queues downloads and allows chatting and IP filtering. We like its clean design and its straight forward usability -- it's a good all-round legal P2P application. -BJ
