The Ministry of silly MP3 players

Label junkies rejoice: Ministry of Sound has launched the latest in its range of clubbing-themed MP3 players. The Stix Player comes with a fluffy carry pouch that's purse-sized to accomodate Rizla and (ahem) aspirin, though the player itself certainly isn't mind-altering. A fairly prosiac plastic shell houses a 512MB flash player and FM radio, and the whole unit is powered by a single AAA battery.

It may possess all the catwalk grace of a Beefeater in drag, but somewhere a teen with a dummy in his mouth is drooling over a full-page advert for this in Mixmag. We're reluctant to level a huge amount of criticism at the Stix, but nano owners will shake their umbrellas at it and scoff into monogrammed hankerchiefs, adjusting their monocles in a patronising manner. It sure ain't pretty, but neither is a two-day hangover, so it'll be in good company.

Expect a full review soon. -CS

Update: a full review of the Ministry of Sound MP3 FM Stix player is now live.
