Samsung Galaxy S3 joined by iPod nano-rivalling S Pebble

Stone the crows! Samsung has unveiled a cutesy MP3 player alongside the Samsung Galaxy S3, called the Samsung S Pebble.

The S Pebble has a similar curved look, feel and colouring as the S3, also announced today. It's a tiny clip-on music player measuring 32mm x 43mm x 13mm.

Inside this heart of stone is 4GB of tunes -- about 17 hours, although we doubt the battery will last that long.

You can load music onto the S Pebble by plugging it straight into the S3 with a cable, cutting out the computer completely. Then just drag and drop to move your MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC music files between MP3 player and phone.

Samsung reckons the S Pebble is perfect for "fitness enthusiasts and active on-the-go users" to wear "while exercising, commuting or simply wandering". So the next time you're exercising, commuting or, er, wandering, you don't need to risk your brand spanking new S3 phone in the elements when you can just clip on your tiny MP3 player instead.

The S Pebble comes in pebble blue and marble white. Pricing and release dates are yet to be announced.

Does the S Pebble rock or will it sink like a stone? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.

If it's for free it's a nice gadget, if not, no need to produce it! Really just don't...for the environment, right Samsung?!

Interesting that you can link it direct to the phone. With the S3 selling with up to 64GB internal memory and the 64GB mini SD just around the corner you are potentially looking at quite a potent media device. Its possible Samsung wants to try and do away with having to link to a PC and instead make your phone your new PC.

Since when did 4GB approximate 17 hours of music? Given the average bit-rate of most people's mp3 collections, you're looking at a megabyte-per minute. That's more like 60-odd hours of music!
