iTunes has launched its variable pricing structure in the UK today. Announced back in January, Apple will now charge 99p for more popular songs in the store, and either the standard 79p or a lower 59p for the rest.
As from today, Lady GaGa's two big hits from her album The Fame -- Just Dance and Poker Face -- cost 99p, while all other album tracks cost 79p. Taylor Swift's current hit Love Story is now selling for 99p instead of 79p.
Amazon MP3 hit iTunes below the belt this week by offering the top 100 songs on its service for just 29p, which currently includes Lady GaGa's Poker Face and Taylor Swift's Love Story.
iTunes now completely DRM-free
In more positive news, Apple has announced iTunes is finally 100 per cent DRM-free, completing the transition from 128Kbps DRMed AAC to 256Kbps DRM-free AAC, as announced in January.
