Want to see a demonstration of a truly outstanding new MP3 player? This was probably our single favourite audio product at IFA this year. Its looks can kill, its functionality is to die for and it goes by the name of the Samsung YP-P2.
The P2 is driven by a touch-sensitive, 76mm (3-inch), true 16:9 colour display, as we mentioned in our previous hands-on report. Navigation of the player is gesture-based, just like the iPhone. To browse through the main menu you simply rub the screen in the direction you want to travel. Browse through the artist list by 'throwing' the list upwards or downwards, and select whatever you want with a single touch.
The P2 will come in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions, has A2DP (Stereo) Bluetooth 2.0 and supports MP3 and WMA music, and WMV and MPEG-4 videos. It also boasts an FM radio, text viewer and JPEG photo support, and has a battery life of 35 hours for audio and 5 hours for video. It will only be available in black in the UK, but it's just 10mm thick, and weighs a paltry 85g.
Check out our video tour of the YP-P2 below, direct from the show floor at IFA. You'll get a first look at this innovative new navigation system and a glimpse of how this extraordinary player will look in your gadget-horny mitts.
The YP-P2 is coming to the UK in November. Expect our full review very, very soon.
Update: A full review of the YP-P2 is now available. -Nate Lanxon
