Freecom MusicPal Internet radio: More from your music
Tags: wireless, radio, stream, digital music
If you've got a great digital music collection you only listen to on your iPod, you could get a lot more out of it at home with this new device from Freecom. MusicPal is a smart black contraption that allows you to stream music wirelessly from your Mac or PC, so you can listen to your favourite songs anywhere around the house. You can also listen to Internet radio and it has an alarm clock feature to make sure you rise and shine with a smile each day (okay, we lied about that bit, but it will wake you up).
There are a few similar units on the market -- the Bush TR2015WIFI and Philips Streamium WAK3300 come to mind -- but MusicPal is definitely easy to install and simple to use. If you can't stand the tiny speakers, it can be easily hooked up to your hi-fi via the stereo audio out, and there's a headphone socket, too.
Another cool feature is the RSS news and blog feed on the display, which will ensure you stay up to date with all the latest, breaking news. MusicPal supports MP3 and WAV formats and comes with a built-in WLAN antenna, so it will happily stream away within range of your wireless network.
Expect to pay around £80 for the MusicPal Wireless Digital Internet Radio, but we'd suggest shopping around online to get the best deal. -Priscilla Tonkin
