Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1: Micro Four Thirds camera leaked?
Olympus' first Micro Four Thirds camera, the E-P1, has been the talk of the town recently, thanks in no small part to its retro, compact design. But Panasonic, which launched the first two Micro Four Thirds cameras, the Lumix DMC-G1 and Lumix DMC-GH1, may be about to step back into the limelight. Some images of what appears to be the upcoming Lumix DMC-GF1, apparently Panasonic's answer to the E-P1, have been posted on a Chinese forum.
From the pictures, the DMC-GF1 appears to be very similar in size to the E-P1 and will even have a built-in pop-up flash, which is something Olympus' offering lacks. Given the form factor, this looks like a souped-up Lumix DMC-LX3 and will certainly excite enthusiasts looking for a relatively compact camera to complement their main digital SLR. The Digital Photography Interface Web site is even speculating that the DMC-GF1 will sport a fingerprint sensor, but we won't know for sure until more information becomes available.
