Good day, and welcome to today's Crave Live, from your humble Interwebitude compendium CNET UK, gathering gadget news and reviews for your delight and edification. Today we hopped on an omnibus and headed for swinging London Town, where skirts are short and the future is now: no, it's not a prop from Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future -- it's the new Olympus Pen E-P1. This 'retro-styled' technological marvel, known as a 'digital' camera, dispenses entirely with film -- whatever will they think of next?
It's Olympus' first entry into the Micro Four Thirds system jointly developed with Panasonic. The kitsch, classically styled E-P1 body is reduced in size by omitting the mirror mechanism. There's no viewfinder and no flash either. Good lord, no flash? These new-fangled modern types, with their coffee houses and their 'rock and roll'! Your humble correspondent is so shocked, his monocle just fell out.
The backroom boffins have packed plenty into the E-P1, which you can view in our photography plate gallery and our videofilmograph above. It's all courtesy of our correspondents Mr Richard D Trenholm Esq. and cinematographic machine-manipulator Sir Ashley Denton-Fortescue, RN (ret). Toodle-pip!
