Video: Bloodhound SSC car is faster than a speeding bullet

Bloodhound SSC is a bona fide rocket car and Britain's latest attempt to break the world landspeed record. We got up close and personal with the jet-powered non-flier at the Gadget Show Live, where our own Rich Trenholm met Nick Chapman from the project's Web team.

Faster than a speeding bullet, the Bloodhound should be capable of more than 1,000mph, covering a mile in just over 3 seconds. Approaching the end of its design phase, the car's record attempt should be made next year. It's touring the country in the meantime, getting school children fired up about engineering. Hit play for a closer look, then read more about it here.
