One of the most-hyped small green cars of the year has gone on sale for under £10,000. Available for preorder today, Toyota's iQ looks to SmartPlanet like a great alternative to anyone who doesn't like the steeper price and diesel engine of VW's excellent BlueMotion Polo. The iQ claims a very high 65.7mpg and mighty low CO2 emissions of 99g/km CO2, and doesn't even have to pay road tax.
There are two editions to pick from, the standard iQ and a posher iQ squared, which snags you rain-sensing wipers and other extras. The cheapest version of the car is the £9.495 1.0 VVT-i manual, though you can spec it up to £11,495 and above with bespoke bolt-ons. Deliveries are due January.
For the full features list, a zillion images and details on the world's first rear window air bags, check out Toyota's official iQ pages.
