Ford Fiesta Sport Special Edition lets you get your urban rally on

Few things in life are as soul destroying as watching Ken Block hoon around in a souped up rallycross-spec Fiesta then stepping into your own bog standard Fiesta Studio edition. Luckily, Ford's about to help future Fiesta owners regain a little self-respect with a pimped-out Viagra'd-up Fiesta Sport Special Edition.

It's not as outrageous as Block's 650bhp monster, but it'll certainly tickle the loins of any self-confessed boy or girl racer -- at least where looks are concerned. Ford has decked it out in full Max Power uniform -- lowered side skirts, front and rear spoilers, polished twin exhausts and 17-inch black alloy wheels -- which give it a purposeful, racier-than-normal appearance.

Sadly, there isn't anything particularly racy about its performance. The car comes with a choice of 1.6-litre petrol engines, the pick of the bunch being the 134PS Duratec Ti-VCT lump, which produces 160Nm of torque. This, with the help of a close-ratio gearbox, helps the car achieve a hybrid-worrying 0-62mph time of 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 122mph.

If that, for some reason, is too scary for you, Ford will also offer a 1.6-litre 95PS version that is more geared towards fuel economy. It returns 57.4mpg and spit CO2 emissions of just 107g/km.

Ford has fitted some relatively decent tech to the Fiesta Sport Special Edition. The car packs heated seats and, for the first time in a Fiesta, the option of a DAB radio. It'll also feature a USB port that lets you connect external audio devices and a six-speaker audio setup.
