Sanyo steered clear of the madness that was CES 2009 and instead opted to announce its spring 2009 lineup of Xacti camcorders on Wednesday.
Headed to US stores in March are six new models (three horizontal and three vertical, pistol-grip siblings), all of them capable of shooting in HD -- two of them in full 1080p. UK pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
Oh, and Sanyo's decided it's time to create a new category name by calling these 'dual cameras', since they can take still photos at point-and-shoot camera resolutions.
Shown above is the $500 (£360) Xacti VPC-FH1, the top-of-the-line horizontal dual camera. It features 1080p video at 60 frames per second; 8-megapixel photos and high-speed, 12fps sequential shooting; high-speed video recording with super slow-motion playback (up to 600fps); 10x optical zoom for photos and 16x advanced zoom for video; and a 76mm (3-inch) LCD.
The other models in the new Xacti line-up are the VPC-HD2000, VPC-TH1, VPC-CG10 and the waterproof VPC-WH1 and VPC-CA9. Click through our photos for a closer look!
