Kodak Playsport waterproof mini-camcorder battles the elements

CES 2010

We hear there's some extreme weather going on in England's white and unpleasant land. We wouldn't know, we're sunning ourselves in Las Vegas at CES 2010. But if we were battling the elements at home, the Kodak Playsport waterproof mini-camcorder would probably be very handy.

To stand out from its stablemate the Kodak Zi8 and the likes of the Flip Video, Kodak has taken a leaf out of the still camera market's book of gimmicks and waterproofed its newest offering. You'll be able to take the Playsport down to 3m (10 feet).

Once you're down there you'll shoot 1080p video at 30 frames per second. It has a 51mm (2-inch) screen, HDMI connection -- with cable included -- and rechargeable battery. It takes SD and SDHC cards, which Kodak reckons will get you 10 hours of high-definition footage.

The Playsport comes in Abyss (that's black to me and you), Wave Crash (blue) and Adrenaline Rush (purple). It will cost £130 from April 2010. Just in time for your 'olidays. Going anywhere nice? We recommend Las Vegas. They don't even know what snow is.
