Flip UltraHD and MinoHD refreshed: FlipPort accessories on the way

Flip has added to its range of popular mini camcorders. New versions of the high-definition UltraHD and MinoHD models increase storage, and offer the new FlipPort connection for attaching accessories.

The UltraHD and MinoHD both come in two flavours: one that can shoot for an hour, and another that films two hours of footage.

The 4GB, one hour UltraHD shoots 720p, but won't be available in the UK. The 8GB two hour version shoots at 50fps and adds electronic image stabilisation. Its slimmer body takes either three AAA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack.

The new MinoHDs differ only in colour: the one hour version comes in silver and the two hour comes in black. Both shoot 720p video at 60fps with electronic image stabilisation.

All the new models sport HDMI connections and the signature flip-out USB connector. The 8GB UltraHD also includes FlipPort, a proprietary connection that will add peripherals like a wireless microphone, battery extender, external storage or a pico projector.

It's the first time that new Flips have launched in Blighty at the same time as the US. Flip's owner Cisco has simply switched the dollar and pound signs, so the one-hour model costs £150 and the two-hour versions are £180.
