Canon HG20 and HG21: The hoodoo that you do
The voodoo hoodoo of HooDoo and HooDooDoo is what makes the new Canon HG20 and the Canon HG21 camcorder magic. We're talking about HD and HDD there, of course.
Both camcorders shoot high-definition video, and record to hard disk drives. They record 1,920x1,080-pixel full high-definition footage in AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec for High Definition, or maybe something to do with Voodoo Chile) format.
They're working the hybrid hoodoo with SD and SDHC card support on top of the internal memory. The HG20 boasts 60GB, which will magic up 22 hours of film, according to Canon. The HG21, pictured, has a whopping 120GB onboard for a claimed 45 hours of HD video.
They sport 3.3-megapixel CMOS chips to witch-doctor your footage. Lenses stretch to 12x optical zoom, which is good for looking into the future. Well, stuff that's further away. It would be the future if you walked over there.
The new shooters will be available in early September 2008. UK prices are yet to be confirmed. We'll keep you posted as soon as we get them in to stick pins in them for a full, in-depth review. Click next to take a look at the HG21. -Rich Trenholm
