Tech Air deploys laptop air bags

Old-school laptop cases are only good for two things -- attracting muggers and making a nice leather coffin for any notebook unfortunate enough to be dropped while being carried in one.

Luckily a new breed of bag merchants, including Tech Air, are releasing far safer, trendier laptop bags that will help you stand out from the crowd without screaming "Hi, I've got a laptop, please steal it".

We just got our hands on the funky new 5504 messenger bag, which has an air cushioning system that is said to work better than ordinary foam-based protection.

Tech Air bags also feature the i-TRAK 'tracking' system. These are essentially unique codes that make your laptop easily identifiable. If you lose the bag or your laptop, the good Samaritan that finds them simply has to phone, email, or contact i-TRAK via the web to inform you of their whereabouts.

All you have to do is pay for them to be sent back to you, so it's much like getting your mum to write your name, address and phone number onto the bag and notebook for you.

Tech Air produces bags to fit most sizes of notebook, most of which incorporate Active Sleeve technology -- which basically means they can stretch to accommodate different shapes. You also get 'Skinns' (pull-out sections that hold pens, credit cards and phones), a hole to pass a headphone cable through, and a lifetime warranty.
