Convertible or coupe? Coupe or convertible? That, friends, is the sort of thing that keeps us awake at night. Thankfully, however, we no longer have to choose. Ford has teamed up with Pininfarina -- the guys who help design Ferraris -- to produce a car that is both convertible and coupe. And it has loads of tech inside!
Meet the Ford Focus CC-3, the Optimus Prime (well, maybe Bumblebee) of cars you can actually buy. Not only does its metallic hard top rise, contort and disappear into the boot like some crazy metallic origami gadget on wheels, but pretty much everything inside it can be controlled by your voice.
Want to skip CD tracks, change the radio frequency or set the precise temperature in the cabin? Just hit the voice-activation button, say the words, and the Focus CC does the rest. It's just as well, because the centre console housing the touchscreen sat-nav looks like mission control at NASA.
Obviously there's more, but we won't spoil it for you with pointless words. Watch the video to see what this baby can do, then tell us what you think below. -Rory Reid

well the control is there. just not the power. It's actually a nice drive once you get up to speed. Lets be realistic though -- nobody wants to drive a convertible really fast.. it's all about going 2 miles an hour so everybody sees you.

AnonymousThu 20 March, 2008 9:36pm
Ford Focus is a joke car, this is conclusive proof that you yanks haven't got a clue about good motoring Bwahahahahaha
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 1:47pm
Rory should have done a better job highlighting the the totally awesome assets of this car . I mean, Ford totally handed him its brillance on a plate and what did he do? Jacked it
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 1:52pm
Rory did not review this car, the whack job blew what could have been the best review of his life. No wonder he sucks
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 1:57pm
Oops! my bad. Did you dudes not read the review? Rory was just grammying the Ford Focus. How can you now say the car is not good? A** H*** you suck too
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 2:06pm
All you CNET whack jobs and all you CNET.co.uk loony readers, ignoring the absolute billance that American car industry offers to the motoring world is so totally tragic. LOOSERS!!!
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 2:12pm
You're the same sad American posting 4 times in a row.
Hahaha how pathetic. Grow up.
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 3:23pm
Dude get this straight. Americans are never pathetic. Our motors great, we are the leaders in technology, sports, politics. the Brits denying this wont change that fact. Rory should give our cars a better review.
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 3:26pm
You thinking that its the same American posting four times in a row wont help shut us up. Review our d**n cars A**H***
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 6:20pm
You've just done it again. Haha - you need help mate.
You are an embarrassment to your country. Just how many personalities do you have?
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 6:34pm
This is a media forum where readers can voice an opinion or state a comment. Do not try to intimidate Americans we do not back down from anyone revisit history. We saved your British A** many a times. We were not an embarasment then were we? Remember the falklands? who's laughing now? American car Rocks.
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 6:40pm
You Brits are not as smart as you think. Just because you attack our cars, question our loyalty to our car industry will not blind us to the fact that the first American car that Rory reviewed was totally jacked. Yes this is my second time and I will keep coming back
AnonymousFri 21 March, 2008 8:50pm
You're right we're smarter than we think - And given that the US had nothing to do with the Falklands Conflict I would also like to add that you appear to be dumber than you first came across. Congratulations you muppet you are single handedly proving to everyone that America is filled with idiots.
Oh and if you actually knew anything about cars you would know that Ford Focus' are a very average car. Just because it has a drop top doesn't make it special its just ever so slightly less crap.
AnonymousMon 24 March, 2008 11:59am
You Brits are so high on the review koolade Rory is feeding you that you do not realize that you are being blindsided. And who the hell are you? The review Police?
There is nothing average about any car that comes out of America. Any good reviewer would know that
AnonymousMon 24 March, 2008 12:23pm
Oh come ome on! Gimme a break. Team Rory is putting a spin on this review. The Whack jobs at CNET Jacked the best car they have had so far and now their spin machine is trying to play us. Get real dudes.
AnonymousMon 24 March, 2008 11:48pm
You continue to be an idiot who double posts in what I can only assume to be a vague attempt of backing up your own weak arguements.
You talk about being blindsided and yet it is you that is so patriotically blinkered that you argue with no rationale.
However I'm worried about your sanity and how sad it must make me to continue arguing with you. So continue living your weird little fantasy where America makes good cars, whilst I go out and actually drive one.
AnonymousTue 25 March, 2008 1:11pm
Not only did Rory jacked a good review, now you Brits are trying to limit how often Americans can express their displeasure over how our awesome motors are treated. Dude, assuming that you are not switch hitting, shut up and DIP
AnonymousTue 25 March, 2008 1:37pm
Crackpot Be-Einstien of course we can double post. Its called loyalty you nut job. We stand proudly behind our cars. The rationale behind the argument is that Rory did not do justice to the Ford focus. his review sucked. Rory sucks. CNET sucks, and you are the biggest su**ker

Christmas 2007, I treated myself to a Ford Focus CC3. Make no mistake, Ford and Pininfarina have created a fantastic convertible. Heaps more stylish than the Vauxhall Astra Twin Top or Pugeot 307 CC, this car comes with a great deal of toys - most loved of all - heated seats and heated front screen. Its easy to pass comments on something most people have never driven or can never afford. We tend to side with BMW or Audi because we're told by reviewers that they are the ones to be seen with. They're great cars - but so are Ford, an in this case, the CC3 is a corker. By the way, Ford Focus Convertibles are designed and built by Pininfarina in Turin. i think their track record speaks for the CC3 itself. Try one. Want One. I own one.
AnonymousTue 25 March, 2008 8:03pm
In your face you British whack jobs!!. Now thats what I'm talking bout. Props to you annonymous for doing Rory's job. The Focus totally rocks. Who cares where they are built. they are still American. American totally rule.
AnonymousTue 25 March, 2008 11:23pm
Thank you anonymous for your kind words. Go to Ford.com site and view the new 2008 Ford Edge. This is truly a beautiful vehicle. The stylng is so American with a splash of Range Rover. The Edge is an absolutely breathtaking example of American muscular design as seen first on the chrysler 300. You're right, American totally rules. By the way, my Focus CC3 is a Diesel 2.0 and returns 40-45mpg. 50mpg on the freeway. Hybrid can take take a hike.
AnonymousWed 26 March, 2008 3:06pm
There you are Rory. Your next car to review is the '08 Ford Edge its already chosen for you. Since you did such a piss poor job of the focus, this is your chance to redeem yourself.
AnonymousWed 26 March, 2008 7:55pm
Playa, you got played. Someone who actually owns a ford focus has spoken. The review world now knows that American car rules. By the way hybrid is just a concept, it wont catch on.
AnonymousThu 27 March, 2008 2:48pm
Rory is nothing but a reviewaholic. Getting high on treating American cars like bad British tea. Now the world knows America cars rule.
AnonymousThu 27 March, 2008 2:59pm
I echo those sentiments exactly. Rory's treatment of American cars totally bolws. CNET should intervene.
AnonymousThu 27 March, 2008 3:06pm
This just prove that Rory and CNET staff has disassociated themselves from reality. You Boneheads should give in to the demands of your Americans readers. We want a great review of a great car that represents our interest.
AnonymousThu 27 March, 2008 3:21pm
Just because you have an opinion and a means to voice it, doesn't necessarily mean that you are right.
your circular logic - 'I said it is good, therefore it is good' is as odious and brash as the cretinous country from which you come.
But please feel free to keep posting 'American cars rule innit lol' to confirm your stupidity.
AnonymousThu 27 March, 2008 3:48pm
In American you would be sued for that comment. Do not mistake intelligence for arrogance. Our cars are not brash, they are bold, innovative inventions. They set the trend for other pretentious usurper car manufacturers to follow. What have you Brits brought to the table?
AnonymousThu 27 March, 2008 8:00pm
Your country
*ZING*
AnonymousMon 31 March, 2008 3:37pm
Why is everyone talking like this car is american, its made by ford of europe who are basically a different company to the failing ford of america, anyone who has ever driven these metal folding roofs will know the engines are good but all that weight kills performance.
AnonymousMon 2 June, 2008 2:22pm
I have just purchased a CC-3 and its absolutely fantastic. Was looking to buy the Eos but with a saving of over 3 grand and a boot (trunk) that you can actually use, the Ford won hands down. The car is big enough to seat 4 - the kids fit in fine - not sure a six foot man would do the same, but he would with the roof down. As I have said the boot is huge with the roof up and plenty big enough for a weeks shop with it down. Inside the gadgets abound and the stereo being Sony is stunning. I have just traded in a VW Golf and was hesitant about going to the blue oval (poor experience in the past) but so far I am extremely pleased with my purchase if not only because my wife can't stop grinning every time we go for a drive with the roof down. Bless she's never owned a convertible before. Fuel economy so far around town is 39mpg (diesel) and the pulling power in 4th, 5th and even 6th is silky smooth! Don't listen to people who say its underpowered - you don't buy a car like this to drive at stupid speeds!! It breaks the speed limit easily - what more do you need in these days of £5 per gallon fuel. If you have any doubts about buying this car just take a test drive and you'll be won over - I was!!!
