We've put aside all our prejudices this week. We could easily have brought you videos of the technology inside supercars, hot hatches or convertibles, but we've taken the path of the common man in delivering you a tech-oriented video of the Peugeot 308 S.
Yes, we know it's a diesel. But don't let that put you off. Peugeot knows that even hen-pecked family men need gadgets to play with, and the 308 S delivers these by the spoon-load. Our favourite additions include an electronic speed-limiting system that prevents you from going above whatever speed you set it to.
Then there's the in-dash MP3 system, integrated iPod connector, an eight-speaker sound system with optional subwoofer, and the coup de grace: a panoramic sunroof with an electrically sliding cover. It's like being in a convertible, except seagulls can't deposit their fishy gifts in your hair.
Watch as we put it through its paces. -Rory Reid

To be fair, it's probably better to have a glass roof than a solid one. Pigeon crap can destroy paintwork but it shouldn't have much of an effect on glass. And think of all the petrol money you'll save -- you can spend all that extra cash on going on dates. That's pretty rockin'

I like the fact it has a socket for your MP3 player, but you have to lock your player inside the glove compartment or have a wire trailing out of it onto the passenger seat or something. Thats not very elegant. Good try though.

hmm... You've gotta wonder weather or not somebody at the cnet offices has some sort of a deal going on with peugeot at the moment?! Anc could you?! tbh i don't see all that many manufacturer's lining up to lend you their supercars to test..

Wow! A Fart joke on CNET is like a breath of fresh air.
Rory ReidSun 17 February, 2008 9:34pm
The supercars are coming. But I'm rationing the fart jokes. Keep your eyes and noses peeled.

Rory and Cnet staff, this what you get for disrespecting Americans. We take you down. We bring the tech fight to you. Now you are downgraded to reviewing Peugeot cars. Other manufacturers have listened to the voice of the people. You guys suck. Rock on America, We rule.
AnonymousTue 19 February, 2008 5:35pm
Rory please dont try and blind side your readers by pretending you are not prejudice. Your prejudice against American auto tech is so apparent. Big, Brash and whatever, were your words. However, you can redeem your self by reviewing one of our awesome cars. We might consider villifying you and stop the boycott of your column.
AnonymousTue 19 February, 2008 6:47pm
Dude if you want to review a car for the commom man, you should look to something American. Ford, GMC or Chrysler they all do diesel, they are just as techno loaded as anything European and far more superior.
AnonymousTue 19 February, 2008 6:55pm
Rory there is still time to redeem yourself. Ditch the pimp. European cars are over rated you know you really want to do an American.
AnonymousWed 20 February, 2008 2:03pm
Rory have you been authorized by CNET to ignore the request of of the American readers? We do contribute to the ongoing success of your column and we make up the bulk of readers. Yet you never acknowledge us except in a diparaging way.
We demand equal treatment as you give to the French? Who stood by the Brits in when the French deserted you and the Germans were kicking your A**. It was the American. How do you repay us? You tea drinking, beer guzzling mother ..............

Dude you are so on point with this review. I have to give you props for clarity and content . You totally nailed it. But you are still an a** h***. American cars do own the world. When we were exporting cars you Brits were still using horse and buggy and hunting harmless fox. Its people like you and org like CNET with your bias that is undermining our tech industry.
AnonymousFri 22 February, 2008 3:05pm

Your Review is of the hook dude. But you need to climb out of the French's A** you would do better to look to the Americans. Our car tech is hardcore tough. Bring anything the French have and we will KICKASS.

Diesels dont rock, in any way shape or form. However it does look classier than the 207 GTI.
The panoramic glass roof looks good if you're taking a date out on a seductive drive but surely
that thing is going to be a target for the local pigeons.
Nice to see another European car *TNK*
